Not a blog. Just things I'm thinking about, stuff I learned, and whatever else ends up here.

aibuilding
January 2026

AI really is incredible. And I'm just scratching the surface. So after weeks and weeks of kicking the can, I finally decided to open up Claude code again and spend some real time using it. I've had a few ideas I've wanted to build for a while now, and given its recent virality, I finally took the leap. On Friday, I put together a half decent prompt of an idea I'd been thinking about for a few months - nothing worth monetizing, but it solved a problem for me. Around 500 characters or so later, the first version was live (on my old personal GitHub portfolio, oops). Perfect? Not at all. But better than expected? Yeah 100%. I knew my weekend was prettttty much cooked at this point, but I did not expect to open Twitter to see all of this discourse about Clawd Bot. After some time researching on Saturday morning, I removed the Mac mini from my Amazon cart and set up a free Amazon server so I could start to tinker. It's been around 24 hours since I got it functioning, and so far, I've built: • a personal finance tracking skill, with a secure dashboard to keep the info safe, and added 2 features thanks to suggestions from K.A.R.E.N. (Yeah, I named my Claude bot after Spider-Man's suit lady - sue me) • a security audit that runs daily to ensure I don't accidentally expose myself to the horrors of the internet (I'm not officially technical, trying to look out for myself as best I can though!) • a daily ideation run, so I get recommended projects that make work and life easier/better • a daily Twitter sweep, so my likes and bookmarks continue to tune ideation and knowledge I ran into rate limits on my $20 Claude pro subscription pretty quickly, so I upgraded for more freedom, and have been having a blast. Definitely tons of risk to navigate, but man the gears are turning in ways they never have for me. Biggest takeaway from this weekend truly is - just start.
